2011 Summer Football Coaches Conference was a Huge Success!

The DeKalb County Public Schools Foundation and The DeKalb County Schools Department of Athletics are pleased to announce that the first 2011 Summer Coaches Conference was a huge success. Thank you so much to Matt Stinchcomb for kicking this event off as our keynote speaker. And also a special thank you to all of our sponsors! You made our first coaches conference very successful and we look forward to working with all of you next year. The Foundation hosted this event in an ongoing effort to support coaches with leadership development and training to help teach and encourage our student-athletes .

The DCPSF 2nd Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success!

The DeKalb County Public Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament held on June 6, 2011 at Stone Mountain Park’s Lakemont Golf Course was another amazing success. With the help of our sponsors and players, we were able to succeed our fundraising goals!

The Foundation hosted this event in an ongoing effort to support DeKalb students and teachers with leadership development and training and to promote math and science programs that teach conservation and sustainability principles.

HECCA Winners Announced!

The DeKalb County Public Schools Foundation wishes to thank The Health Education & Communication Center of Atlanta (HECCA) and Converse – Nike for their partnership and support in the promoting healthy life styles for the students of DeKalb County School System.

In May, 2010, Converse-Nike donated 1000 basketballs to the school system.

2010 Teacher of the Year Awards

On August 21, 2010, The DeKalb County Public Schools Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the DeKalb County School System, hosted the 21st Annual Teacher of the Year Tribute. This year’s even was held at the Thalia N. Carlos Hellenic Community Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This tribute serves as a celebration for our teachers, honoring them for their hard work and commitment to educational excellence as well as recognizing our Partner Sponsors for their continued support of public education. During the night’s celebration, the winners for the Elementary Schools, Middle School, High School and Centers were announced. They are:

2009 Sustainability Fundraiser

    On November 9, 2009 the DeKalb County Public School Foundation, Inc, partnered with the DeKalb County School System and held its first fundraiser Sustainable? Together, it's so doable! at the Hellenic Center Ballroom on Clairmont Avenue.  Over 200 eco-friendly supporters attended the event. Co-Chairs, Laura Turner Seydel, Eco Living Expert, and Charmaine Ward, Director of Community Affairs, Georgia- Pacific, LLC, welcomed everyone and championed new sustainability initiatives for the DeKalb County School System.

    The evening’s program included both a silent and live auction. All monies raised will be spent to promote improvements in our environment and sustainability programs. This would include science, math, arts and leadership development programs that are designed to teach sustainability within our communities and to celebrate students’ and teachers’ achievements.
